Offering healing and hope to people with disabilities is an essential mark of God’s reign and a sign that Jesus, our Messiah, is present and active (Matt 11:4-5). One way to reach out with caring to individuals and families impacted by disability is through a support group.

Connecting with others is an important part of caring for ourselves that not only allows us to talk things through, but feel heard and understood. We offer two types of groups weekly: Illness/Disability Virtual Support Groups Area Peer Support Groups Following is a listing of other disability-related support groups in the area, categorized by county then listed alphabetically. Disability Network is not affiliated directly with these groups but makes every effort to ensure the information provided is accurate and up to date.

Support groups for the disabled are run by individuals who either have a specific disease or condition or have experience as a counselor who has worked these individuals. The person who heads up the support group helps to guide discussions and can offer advice and guidance if a member needs additional support services.

The heart of what support groups are about is breaking into the isolation of living with a given challenge, so plan deliberately to nurture connection.
